You haven't overlooked anything except that your graphics adapter is not going to work well with any program like SL. I have compiz running and it works good but some of the effects, like water, dont run correctly or quickly so im guessing something is wrong with my graphics drivers.

Or do you think I missed something during the Linux install?

It is black most of the time with occasional flickers of what I'm guessing I should be seeing with the viewer.

I'm using a fresh install from DVD of opensuse Anyway, The problems I've mentioned in this thread are still happening: Running the command xrandr. I can't imagine you'd get a performance increase on a chipset that old, but it probably won't hurt to try. At the next login, the graphic tool takes over again if it is set to "touchpad on". As of right now it looks like this issue is affecting alot of people that use of all video cards!

Is it available and how do I get it? The Intel GMA is barely able to run viewers based on the 2 year old code base that makes is used for the SL viewer 1. Any reasonably priced video cards that you can recommend?
